US Open: Rory McIlroy hoping to challenge leaders on final day

Gary Woodland kisses with the championship trophy after winning the 2019 U.S. Open golf tournament at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

"People probably growing up said the U.S. Open wouldn't suit me, because I'm a long hitter, I'm a bomber", Woodland said. Third place takes home $830,466, fourth place earns $582,175 and fifth place gets $484,896.

Latest updates from the final round of the US Open at Pebble Beach.

Koepka had to settle for a footnote in history.

Ending his round in style with a birdie at the last, Woodland carded a two-under 69 to keep Koepka from becoming the first man in more than a century to sweep three straight U.S. Opens. He finished second in greens in regulation this week, hitting 52 of 72.

"Come play it yourself", McIlroy said with a small chuckle. "I could have laid up. That 3-wood separated me a little bit".

It was the shot of the tournament, until Woodland hit one even better.

He believes it allowed him to hit one just as good on the 17th.

Koepka chipped to 10 feet and narrowly missed the birdie putt. Woodland makes the miracle par, and Rose - who was the only thing colder than the seaside weather - smoothly made his birdie.

Massive power cuts hit whole of Argentina
Uruguay power company UTE said on social media that power had returned to parts of Montevideo and the southern coast of Uruguay. Tierra del Fuego in the far south is the only area that remains unaffected because it is not connected to the power grid.

Duke's Chandler Eaton was at 2 over through 12 holes.

He went on: "I didn't allow myself to dream, I never got ahead". "I thought it had a chance to go in, but it's not one I want over".

That effectively ended the U.S. Open. Fantastic playing, great heart - there will be more in Gary's future!'

"So I just stayed in it".

The 35-year-old golfer and his wife Gabby were expecting twins two years ago - a boy and a girl. He was aware that Tiger Woods had a 12-under 272 during his historic rout at Pebble Beach in 2000, and he topped him. With a marine layer blocking the sunshine, and no significant wind at Pebble Beach all week, 31 players finished under par. "And I had to try to fight back and claw out a round today, which I was able to do". All we got from the back-to-back U.S. Open champ was a casually raised hand and a flash of the pearly whites inside that clenched, perfectly crooked grin.

Something wonderful happened to Woodland. "It's incredible", Koepka said. He now has a victory in the PGA Championship and runner-up finishes in the Masters and U.S. Open.

One fan tweeted: "What an emotional story for Gary Woodland who had suffered through a miscarriage with his wife, and on Father's Day weekend, he strings together a stellar tournament while capping it off by sinking a twenty-plus footer on the 18th for the win".

"I didn't quite get those three shots back, but 2-under for the last four after what happened, very pleased with". He shot 74 and shared third with Xander Schauffele (67), Jon Rahm (68) and Chez Reavie (71).

Woods was 4-over for his round through the first six holes, the easiest stretch on the course, though he went on to birdie Nos.
