Saudis and expats residing in the Kingdom have been asked by the Supreme Court to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Monday (Ramadan 29 corresponding to June 3) for Eid Al-Fitr. The sighting of the moon will mark the beginning of Eid or Eid al-Fitr celebration and the end of Ramadan month.

It's still an extra-long holiday for both public and private sectors...


The number of people traveling during the holiday is estimated to be over 5 million, according to tourism players.

The UAE's moon sighting committee will hold a meeting after maghrib prayers on Monday night (around 7.06pm) at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

The first day of Eid al Fitr 2019 will be tomorrow i.e. Tuesday June 04, 2019 if the new moon is sighted today. The lunar cycle is used to calculate the Islamic Hijri era and this year's Ramadan was observed at a different time across India, as the moon was not visible in some parts of the country.
