Twitter user Ten C96 said: "Holy cow the line to go to security/boarding at Sydney airport go all the way around the terminal it's so insane".

'I never saw that before'.

Another man questioned if arriving two hours early was enough, while a woman tweeted from her position in the queue: "I'm in this same line and this is absolutely insane!"

Passengers at Australian airports are being hit with massive delays due to a security system outage in both domestic and global terminals nationwide.

A spokesperson for Brisbane Airport confirmed it had been impacted by the issue. "I've never seen a line like this in my life!" one person tweeted. "We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused travellers".

ABF has been approached for comment on the scope and nature of the problem, with travellers at Sydney Airport complaining on social media about delays in processing.

This morning's delays at the airport follow a weekend of disruption due to damaging winds that caused the cancellation of over 50 flights and left only one runway operational.

"Strong winds are affecting some domestic flights in and out of Sydney Airport today".
