Chelsea season kick off suffers N'Golo Kante blow

The France global suffered a knee injury at the end of last season, an injury which saw him miss out on his country's worldwide fixtures over the summer, and has so far not featured in any of Chelsea's three pre-season friendlies to date.

Kante has been sent back from Chelsea's pre-season tour of Japan in an attempt to help him focus on his recovery from a knee problem that has plagued him since the back-end of last season.

Kante will return to London to continue rehabilitation on the knee injury suffered ahead of the Europa League final at the end of last season.

"My job will be to get the best out of him and the team, and I'm fortunate to have a player like him because I know the quality and the attributes and I'll try to get the best out of him", Lampard was quoted as saying during his unveiling ceremony.
