Everyone Wears a Mask in HBO's New Trailer for 'Watchmen'

Writing about adapting Alan Moore's Watchmen on Instagram, Lindelof noted (via The Verge): "We have no desire to "adapt" the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago". Of course, the trailer also makes it a point to remind us that this won't simply be another adaptation of the source material. And Doctor Manhattan? "Doctor Manhattan lives on fucking Mars", which is a compelling hint at how this might fit into the timeline of the original.

Damon Lindelof beefed up HBO with The Leftovers, and now he's making it smile with Watchmen. With an episodic series this time, HBO looks to be expanding on the story that the film told in a little under three hours.

Nine Inch Nails musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - who worked on the original score The Social Network - will be composing background music for Watchmen. Executive Producer Damon Lindelof has clarified in the past that this series will indeed take place after the events of the comic, yet he paradoxically says this show will also be its own, new thing that he doesn't describe as a sequel.

Blue Jays blast Tigers
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (6) pitches during the first inning against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Hernandez, who has a beard, wasn't so sure. "I can't put into words how much I love Canada any more than I do", he said.

What do you think of HBO's version of Doctor Manhattan? Are you excited to see how the series will expand upon the original comics?

The series stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson and Jean Smart.

No release date for the Watchmen TV series has been announced, though it is expected to debut in the fall. Watchmen is a production of White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more news on Watchmen and San Diego Comic-Con!
