Everton are closing in on Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph for a fee tipped to be in the region of £8m, according to the Times.

The 29-year old is expected to have a medical on Saturday ahead of finalising terms on a three-year contract.

Although Silva and Goodison's Director of Football Marcel Brands have been been pursuing younger, up-and-coming talent, a player of Delph's pedigree and experience fits the bill to add quality at a good price.

Delph has often played at left back under Guardiola, but City have also strengthened in that area over the summer, signing Angelino from PSV Eindhoven.

Guardiola's side is jetting off to China on Saturday before then traveling to Hong Kong and Japan next week.

The Premier League champions are now expected to leave the England global behind as it looks like a switch to Everton can be completed in the coming days.

The England worldwide is set to leave the Etihad this summer having been deemed surplus to requirements by at the Premier League champions, with the 29-year-old making just eight league starts for Pep Guardiola's side last season.

The versatile Delph made just 11 Premier League appearances under Pep Guardiola last season and wasn't expected to make much of an impact following City's £60m club-record signing of Rodri from Atlético Madrid.
