However, rather than picking up with the original characters, such as Blair, Serena, and Dan, the show is being developed as a sequel-style reboot which will feature an all-new set of NY private schoolers. (Not to mention some incredibly terrible press concerning very bad things.) Yet now that the newly formed WarnerMedia has chose to launch its own streaming service, the recently revealed Netflix competitor HBO Max, it sounds like those rumors are coming true.

Rumors of a "Gossip Girl" reunion have been circulating for a while, but this new series won't focus on the adventures of Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf.

"Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of NY private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl".

A reboot of the hit teen drama Gossip Girl is in the works, seven years after the show finishes its six-season run.

Ebola outbreak in DR Congo declared a global health emergency
Alexandra Phelan, a global health expert at Georgetown University Law Center, said Wednesday's declaration was long overdue. But he added it could also lead to countries closing their borders with DRC.

However, it's unlikely any of the original Gossip Girl cast - including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, and Taylor Momsen - will return to the roles they originated or a new role altogether. The series will consist of 10 hour-long episodes that will "introduce a fresh crop of gorgeous Manhattan private-schoolers to Gossip Girl's all-seeing eye".

The new series will be produced by Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, as well as original producers Joshua Safran and Leslie Morgenstein.

HBO Max will launch in the spring of 2020.

The media giant still hasn't announced pricing for the service, which will compete with Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus, among others.
