Iran Warns UK Against 'Dangerous and Unwise' Moves After Tanker Seizure

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said the government is working to ensure the early release and repatriation of 18 Indians on board the British-flagged tanker which has been detained by Iran.

In the recording, an Iranian vessel can be heard telling a Royal Navy frigate that it wants to inspect the tanker.

CGTN's Natalie Powell reports.

According to DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola, the manning agency said there were no reported injuries and the vessel was anchored off the port of Bandar Abbas with all its crew on board. Photo: Pool via WANA/Reuters TV via REUTRS.

Britain has denounced Iran's seizure of the oil tanker in the Gulf on Friday as a "hostile act", rejecting Tehran's explanation that it had seized the vessel because it had been involved in an accident.

She told the magistrate she had a number of conditions including border autism, bipolar disorder and anxiety. Det McFadden refused to confirm the decapitation reports but admitted the woman's injuries were horrific.

"He said the entire crew remained on the deck while an investigation continued into the ship". UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, however condemned the move, saying it violates freedom of navigation.

"Arguments cited by the Iranian side to explain its actions are much more convincing than vague references to the European Union's sanction law that were used by the Gibraltar authorities with the United Kingdom's backing at the moment of the arrest of a Panama-flagged tanker carrying Iranian oil", Ryabkov said. On Saturday Algeria's APS news agency said the Mesdar was owned by Algeria's state oil company Sonatrach.

The rest of the crew members on "Stena Impero" include three Russians, one Latvian and one Filipino.

Congress MP Hibi Eden, representing Ernakulam constituency, also sought urgent intervention of the Central government for the release of the Indian nationals. The short clip also shows a patrol boat that appears to be circling the waters near the vessel.
