In addition to Holzhauer and Boettcher, a user-experience librarian at the University of Chicago who scored just three victories and won $97,002, the field will feature the players who won the most "Jeopardy!" games since the last champs tourney, along with the teacher's tournament and college championship winners on the show, which is hosted by the legendary Alex Trebek.

Holzhauer, who has a background in professional sports gambling, became a household name this past spring with his impressive run, which was helped along by his strategy of going for all of the high-value questions first and betting big on Double Jeopardy items.

'Jeopardy!' giant killer: Who is Emma Boettcher, the 'Jeopardy!' contestant who just dethroned James Holzhauer? Holzhauer will compete with 15 other contestants from the past two seasons for a grand prize of $250,000.

James Holzhauer, who captivated audiences with his lengthy winning streak earlier this year, will return to the beloved game show this fall to compete in the Tournament of Champions.

Former Maroons coach Paul Vautin agreed, adding: "They're going to ruin the game if they keep it up". Papalii was huge in his two stints and stood up to Blues opposite David Klemmer (115m, 21 tackles).

No definitive air date has been announced for the tournament other than it will come to television sets in November. It's an intriguing possible rematch.

Sadly, he won't have a chance to go up against Jennings in the tournament.

With the 2019 Tournament of Champions on the way, "Jeopardy!" has revealed its lineup of contestants.
