A$AP Rocky's ongoing issue with Sweden authorities has reportedly garnered the attention of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Swedish authorities plan to keep him in custody until July 19 while prosecutors decide whether to charge him for aggravated assault, despite video showing the alleged victim harassing and attacking him.

The rapper was arrested earlier this month after he and his team allegedly assaulted two men in Stockholm.

Kardashian and her husband, Kanye West, were so concerned about the rapper and two of his associates, whose detention has reportedly included stretches of solitary confinement, that Kardashian got in touch with the White House, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Sources told TMZ Kardashian filled Kushner in on ASAP Rocky's situation, and he went directly to the president.

According to a report TMZ published Thursday morning (July 18), the Wests are now in talks with President Donald Trump and the White House to help expedite Rocky's release from a Swedish jail.

Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who worked for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested at the end of a family visit in April, 2016. Other Iranian dual nationals jailed in Iran include Iranian-American Siamak Namazi and his father Baquer.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also said to have "unleashed a few deputies" to start actively working on the case, largely thanks to West and Kardashian's efforts.

A spokesperson for the State Department said earlier this week, "There are certainly some facts about the arrest and detention that raise concerns".

Some in the Congressional Black Caucus don't think Pompeo is doing enough.

U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-D) has spent weeks lobbing for the release of A$AP Rocky. Rep. Espaillat, who represents ASAP Rocky's Harlem neighborhood, said Sweden will emerge from the situation with a black eye and he believes race is definitely a factor in his detainment.
