Kurt Busch makes a pit stop during the NASCAR Cup Series auto race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., Saturday, July 13, 2019.

The elder Busch, the 2004 series champion, appeared out of the picture to win the Quaker State 400 until a timely caution flag with six laps left presented him the flawless opportunity to steal the checkered flag.

In a thrilling finish at Kentucky Speedway, Kurt beat younger brother Kyle as the pair raced side-by-side towards the finish line on Saturday.

A week ago at Daytona International Speedway, a flash of lightning cost Kurt Busch a shot at victory and the playoff berth that would have come with it. Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch touched as they raced for the lead, both cars wiggled, and it appeared Kurt Busch was headed into the wall.

Daniel Suarez also had a tough race after he made a bad decision early as he took four tyres on a pit stop, having led more than 40 laps to start.

Kyle Busch has won the second stage of the NASCAR race at Kentucky Speedway to make it a Busch Brothers event so far.

Pitting with Kyle Busch with 42 laps to go, the pair left pit road just a few vehicle lengths apart and ended up the lead drivers when green flag pit stops cycled the field.

Rounding out the top five were Kyle Larson, Kurt Busch's teammate at Ganassi, and Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch's teammate.

Kurt Busch (1) and Joey Logano (22) battle at the front of the field early in Saturday's Quaker State 400. "It's going to hold, and it's going to hold, and if it doesn't I'm going to be yanking on my wheel to the left to take him with me".

Abigail Disney , 59, made the trip after receiving a Facebook message from a Disney worker complaining about conditions. And now, she's calling out Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger for his almost $66M salary.

Logano and Kyle Busch lined up side-by-side on the restart for what was expected to be a race for the win, but both Erik Jones and Kurt Busch shoved their cars into the mix for an intense final two laps. "I just told them, it's good, it's not loose, it's not tight, just keep up with the track, and that's - when you win, it's done by a team".

In a one-year deal with Ganassi, Kurt Busch has been weighing his future in the sport.

Coming through turns three and four Kurt Busch got a run on the outside and used his momentum to pull ahead of Kyle Busch.

Kurt's victory was his first of the season and now there are eight drivers officially qualified for the playoffs in Joey Logano (two wins), Kyle Busch (four wins), Brad Keselowski (three wins), Martin Truex Jr. "What an awesome run. They should have won last week (Daytona), so it's nice for them to get some redemption today".

Swapping sheet metal with brother Kyle Busch as the siblings battled for the victory throughout the overtime, Busch collected his first victory of the season in the No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet.

The Busch Brothers finished 1-2, but it was the first win of the year for Kurt Busch and his new Ganassi team. We just weren't completing all the steps that it took to be a victor in the Monster Energy Cup Series.

He was supposed to share a plane back to North Carolina after the race, but Kyle Busch didn't wait for him and forced his older brother to find a ride back home.

"I'm glad it was a thriller".

"But congratulations to Kurt and Chip and (sponsor) Monster and all the guys over there". "It's obviously cool to put on great races and great finishes, and I've been a part of a lot of them and not very many - in fact none - with my brother like that".
