"The issue with the transfer portal is we've gotten very liberal in giving people waivers, so, when we do that, it becomes free agency, which I don't think is good for college football".

Questions about the transfer portal have been frequent at SEC Media Days, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban was the latest to chime in. "I think he's a player we definitely want to count on to be a good leader for us and someone who can contribute and be very productive", said Saban. I think putting the team first is always really, really important. In the one thing that makes those guys what they were and what they are is the number of players that have come up to me throughout the years in both those programs and tell me how much their coach impacted their life in terms of lessons they learned as competitors or the values that were instilled in them while they were in the program, the relationships that were developed.

Blue Jays acquire right-hander Font
Font, 29, has made 22 combined relief appearances for the Mets and Tampa Bay Rays this year, along with three starts for NY . The hurler is now earning $560,400 for the 2019 season so he does not bring any financial implications with him.

"So, in my opinion, if we're going to have a transfer portal that's good for the players, then we ought to have a rule that says, regardless of what happens when you transfer, you have to sit out a year", Saban said. So everybody's expectation is I can transfer and get a waiver.

"We didn't do the things that we feel are very important to the program very well toward the end of the season previous year. They handled it a lot better than we did and we didn't execute very well in the game".
