Djokovic played a near-flawless first set but his level dipped slightly at the start of the second and Bautista Agut, who had seemed nervy early on, grew in confidence.

Seeded 23rd, Bautista Agut was as surprised by his march to Wimbledon's semifinal as anyone, having scheduled his bachelor party in Ibiza for the tournament's final weekend.

Federer had spent 231 consecutive weeks as world number one and won his past 65 grass-court matches, yet Nadal toppled him to win his first Wimbledon title. Federer and Nadal were to play next on Centre Court.

But that was an anomaly in an opening set Djokovic dominated against an opponent clearly nervous at playing his first Grand Slam semi final.

Soon enough, the defending champion was bellowing and shaking his fist after putting away an overhead to go up a break in the third set.

Djokovic, increasingly irritated by a restless crowd, broke for 4-2 in the third set and held for 5-2 off the back of a lung-busting 45-shot rally.

Correct score punters will have noted that a lot of the sets between these two end 6-3, with half of their last 28 sets against each other ending in that scoreline.

Nadal handed Federer his worst loss at a Slam in 11 years in the semi-finals at Roland Garros last month on his way to a 12th title in Paris.

The 20-time Grand Slam singles champion capitalized throughout the match on his serve against Nadal, finishing with 14 aces and landed 69% of his first serves.

For this, Djokovic is a heavy favourite at [1.09] to progress, and while I do think this is a bit short, it's tough to think that there's much in the way of actionable value, despite the fact that Djokovic's edge, based on service/return points won isn't as considerable as those market prices would imply.

"I had to dig deep, Roberto was playing his first semi-final at a Grand Slam and he was not really overwhelmed".
