Scattered storms, less heat this weekend

An oppressive, unsettled weekend followed by a pleasant week

An oppressive, unsettled weekend followed by a pleasant week

Thursday: Partly cloudy and becoming a little more humid with highs in the low to middle 80s.

Showers and storms will increase on Sunday as a strong cold front drops in from the northwest. All-in-all, about 40% of central and south Alabama will receive rain. Those who stay dry will feel warmer, with highs topping out near 90 degrees.

One more sweltering hot day for Saturday, with temperatures reaching the low to mid 90s for much of eastern Iowa.

Pacquiao camp denies Khan claims over Saudi Arabia bout
After stopping Dib, Khan set his sights on Pacquiao, who takes on Keith Thurman at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the WBA super welterweight title on Saturday night.

Highs Sunday should be limited to the upper 80s thanks to the additional cloud cover and rain chances.

Fortunately, it looks like high pressure will be advancing back into the area by next weekend and we shouldn't expect any significant tropical development along this front.

Tonight: Muggy with lows in the lower 70s. There is a mix of sun and clouds with isolated storms.
