Sheffield United break transfer record to sign Irish striker Callum Robinson

The Championship side did not name the top flight club involved but it is believed to be Sheffield United.

Robinson netted 13 times for North End last season despite missing a portion of the campaign through injury.

Preston North End have confirmed they've accepted a bid from a Premier League side for Republic of Ireland forward Callum Robinson.

"The Blades have paid a substantial undisclosed fee to land Republic of Ireland global Callum Robinson from Preston North End".

It was at Aston Villa where Robinson began his career as a youth player, spending two loan periods at Preston and one at Bristol City in 2015-16.

Deutsche Bank to spend €13bn on tech amid massive job cuts
The bank went three years consecutively without turning an annual profit before recording positive earnings for 2018. It will also slim down its division focused on fixed-income investments.

Regardless of how significant the fee for Robinson will be, it certainly needs to be used by Preston in the correct way.

Robinson's displays under Alex Neil appear to have prompted Premier League interest, with newly-promoted Sheffield United closing in on signing him.

However the success and consistency that the forward has brought to the club has certainly warranted his obvious dream move to England's highest division, and it has been rewarded by Preston not getting in the way of the move.

The winger is now an Irish worldwide, who has been capped eight times by his country despite playing for England at youth level.

The versatile attacker enjoyed a strong season in the Championship last term.
