This new SoC also supports single 13MP cameras or 8MP dual cameras and the ability to shoot 1080p video. There is also an Adreno 308 GPU that is rated to boost the gaming performance by up to 25 percent from the predecessor.

Qualcomm has taken the wraps off its latest addition to the Snapdragon 200 series - the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 215. For the 2-series, it means improvements in performance as well as a degree of future-proofing, with Qualcomm pointing to Google's push to make 64-bit Android apps the norm. Qualcomm says customers will see 250 percent increase in performance. The platform also supports HD+ resolution (1,560 x 720 pixels) displays with a tall aspect ratio of 19:5:9. The dual ISP significantly improves camera support. This is the first platform in the 2-series to support EVS Voice calls ("Ultra HD Voice Calls") and Dual Sim with Dual Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) making it possible to use multiple SIMs for concurrent high-quality 4G LTE voice and data, separation of work and personal accounts, and optimize cellular connectivity costs taking advantage of multiple plans.

The connection between the upcoming Snapdragon Wear and the Snapdragon 429 processor can't be denied.

The chip also features the Snapdragon X5 modem, which allows for LTE download speeds of up to an impressive 150 Mbps. Targeting markets where mobile transactions have flourished, the 2-series gets its first NFC-enabled chipset with Android's Google Pay payment support.

The new Snapdragon Wear chipset - could be called Snapdragon Wear 429 or Snapdragon Wear 2700, the name isn't yet decided - will prove to be more energy efficient and modern than the Snapdragon Wear 3100 Qualcomm announced in September. The Qualcomm Adreno 308 GPU and the display technologies support up to 10+ hours of video playback. Qualcomm 215 also supports Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ technology, which is engineered to allow users to charge up to 75% faster than traditional implementations, allowing for lower power and thermal dissipation, and reduced charge times, without virtually any performance tradeoffs. Instead, it's aiming to bring the entry-level up to speed given the changing expectations led by those high-end devices.

According to a report by WinFuture, Qualcomm is planning another new chipset for Wear OS devices, even though the existing Wear 3100 has barely materialized in any devices.
