Oklahoma RB Kennedy Brooks cleared in Title IX investigation

Oklahoma sophomore running back Kennedy Brooks has been cleared in a Title IX investigation conducted by the school according to a report from The Athletic.

In a statement released to ESPN on Tuesday night, Oklahoma's athletic department said it can elect to withhold student-athletes from team activities after being notified of any school investigations.

Part of the federal Title IX statute requires that any claim of sexual harassment, discrimination, misconduct and assault must be reported by university staff and investigated by the school Title IX coordinator's office.

The alleged victim did not file a complaint with police, instead filing a complaint with the Title IX office. "At this time, it's expected that Kennedy Brooks will participate in football team activities later this week".

The officer eventually uses his Taser on McDowell, which proves ineffective on the massive McDowell, who then attacks the officer. The altercation took a violent turn when McDowell chose to leave his vehicle and enter a gas station convenience store.

The site reported that Brooks would return following the conclusion of a Title IX investigation that saw him suspended from summer activities.

Brooks came on strong last season, rushing for 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman. His 8.9 average yards per carry led the Big 12 in 2018.

Along with junior Trey Sermon, the Sooners are again set to head into 2019 with one of the conference's most potent backfields.
