South Korean defense officials on Tuesday said Seoul launched fighter jets in response to "multiple" Russian military planes that entered into the country's airspace.

Chinese military aircraft had also entered South Korean airspace.

The three Russian planes had violated the South Korean aerial identification zone with two Chinese military planes.
