Javier Sanchez-Santos who claims to be the son of award-winning Spaniard Julio Iglesias arrives to appear before a court in Valencia for a paternity case at City of Justice in Valencia

A 1992 court ruled in Javier Sanchez-Santo's favour but it was overturned in an appeals' court.

A 20 YEAR legal battle regarding a paternity suit against the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias has reached a Valencia court, and today a Judge ruled that he considered the claimant to be the singer's son.

The judge refused to admit the DNA evidence allegedly obtained from the singer's son, Julio Iglesias, Jr.

Judge José Miguel Bort said the decision was made due to the resemblance between the two men, and on the basis of Edite's testimony.

In its ruling, the court said Iglesias' refusal to take the DNA test and evidence of "certain contact and relations" between the singer and Santos at the time of conception were sufficient to establish paternity.

Javier Sanchez-Santos was born in 1976 to Portuguese dancer Maria Edite Santos.
