Transfer: What Neymar told PSG about Barcelona move after reporting for preseason

The Brazil global has refused to return for pre-season training at the Parc des Princes such is his desire to make the move back to his old club.

PSG have yet to make a formal comment but it is believed that talks with Barcelona are ongoing.

Spanish League giants Barcelona have reportedly offered Paris Saint Germain a bid of €40 million plus Coutinho and Dembele for Neymar Jr this summer.

Neymar has been alerted by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to the fact that he is unlikely to leave the club in this transfer window.

But PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is keen for the French champions to recuperate as much of the world-record £198m fee for Neymar as possible.

The Brazil worldwide confirmed his intention to leave the French capital after talks with PSG's sporting director Leonardo earlier on Monday, according to ESPN.

Gerrard hoping to sanction this transfer business in coming weeks
He continued: "It is pleasing for the fans to see the evidence out there on the pitch of the standards we are trying to drive". But there won't be much more activity in terms of incomings".

Neymar was due to talk about his PSG future and respond to links to Barcelona with an exclusive interview with Brazilian TV station Aqui na Band.

However, it is understood Coutinho will not be departing the Nou Camp until Neymar's circumstances in Paris become clearer.

Though, Barca have not ruled out a return for the forward, they want the attacker to accept he made a mistake in the way he left the club initially.

Neymar has garnered plenty of attention this summer, thanks to his desire to engineer a return to Barcelona.

Around 79 per cent of PSG fans responding to a France Football online poll asking if the sale of Neymar would be good business replied that they thought it would.

The La Liga champions completed the capture of Antoine Griezmann for £108m last week and hope to re-sign Neymar in a players-plus-cash deal.
