Trump said on Friday that a wave of arrests of immigrants facing deportation would start over the weekend.

The roundups are just another Trump tactic in a long line of xenophobic anti-immigration tactics the president began upon taking office in 2017 that started with the Muslim ban where he tried to temporarily prohibit the entry of people, even US residents, from several Muslim-majority countries.

The raids were expected to begin in late June, however, Trump postponed them for political reasons while Congress was debating a US$ 4.6 billon financial support bill for his campaign-promised wall at the border with Mexico, and for surveillance operations in the southwest region.

As such, here's a primer on how to prepare in the event of an ICE raid.

President Trump's announcement of planned immigration raids in Los Angeles and other major USA cities beginning Sunday has heightened fears and anxiety in targeted communities, leaving many seeking legal help susceptible to scams, advocates say. Mayor Lori Lightfoot addressed the residents on the north side of Chicago before the raids were supposed to start.

Recounting an exchange with representatives of Hispanic evangelical groups, Pelosi said they told her: "on Sunday, west of the MS, our people are in church". "It's traumatizing people." Trump insisted on Friday that "most mayors" want the raids. He said it would be unfair to them if others could simply cross the border in an attempt to gain the privileges of American life.

Djokovic-Federer Wimbledon final goes to 5th set
The Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer Wimbledon 2019 Final will be played on July 14 at Centre Court of All England Club in London. It will be crucial how Federer starts, and how well he serves, against arguably the best returner the game has seen.

NY state governor Andrew Cuomo said the raids would no doubt lead to "collateral arrests" of individuals with no orders of deportation, in a statement earlier in the week.

Activists have been spreading the word to migrants to not open their doors if an immigration agents knocks, since they can not use force to enter a residence.

"Fear, need and anxiety are driving people to try to find some legal help", said Rigo Reyes, the executive director of Los Angeles County's Office of Immigrant Affairs. But the impending raids have raised concerns about how a new influx could affect federal detention centers already badly overcrowded.

The Trump administration has increased pressure on the governments of Mexico and several Central American countries to stem the flow of migrants reaching the United States border. Several American news outlets have reported on centers holding young children, separated from their parents, in crowded and unhygienic conditions.

Warren, D-Mass., shared her potential immigration plan, criticizing President Donald Trump for a policy of "cruelty and division" and stating she would focus on eliminating the abusive enforcement of immigration law, reducing detentions, reforming immigration courts, and expanding the number of immigrants and refugees allowed in the country. USA officials have acknowledged the overcrowding but insisted they are doing their best to provide decent conditions.

ICE agents attempted raids in the Harlem and Sunset Park neighborhoods of New York City on Saturday, according to sources in a Wall Street Journal report. It said it had not yet been contacted, but added, "Marriott has made the decision to decline any requests to use our hotels as detention facilities".
