Russia is continuing to deliver its S-400 missile system to Turkey for a second straight day, a move that could hurt Turkish-U.S. relations and puts advanced Russian military technology in possession of a key North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance member, according to a VOA report. "By buying the S-400s, we are not getting ready for war". The United States has opposed its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally's purchase of the Russian systems and is reportedly preparing sanctions against Turkey this week.

Arzu, who was among the thousands who came to see Erdogan speak in Ankara, said she was there to "honour our martyrs", adding: "Without them, we would not be alive".

Although President Trump had expressed sympathy for Turkish compulsions during a meeting with President Erdogan at the G20 meeting in Osaka last month, Washington has repeatedly said that the purchase of S-400 is incompatible with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation systems.

According to Rostech, a Russian state-run hi-tech corporation, Director General Sergei Chemezov, the contract cost is 2.5 billion U.S. dollars. It awaits a sign-off by Trump and his top advisers, the people said, requesting anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter. "I would say that (F-35 manufacturer) Lockheed isn't exactly happy. The S-400 is a Russian system built to shoot down aircraft like the F-35".

Turkey began receiving the S-400 components from July 12. "You can not have both".

"The Secretary and the President are examining all of the options that are in the CAATSA [Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act] legislation", Ortagus said. "Expected US sanctions will undermine investor confidence at home and overseas, and exacerbate the country's economic woes by triggering a new wave of capital flight", said Erdemir. He stated that Turkey will "go much further".

Broadcaster Haberturk quoted Erdogan as telling Turkish journalists that Trump "has the authority to waive or postpone CAATSA", referring to USA sanctions created to prevent countries buying military equipment from Russian Federation.

It is not yet known where the S-400 will be deployed.

"It is certainly disappointing, those are my words, very disappointing".

Blackhawks trade center Artem Anisimov to Ottawa for Smith
Rumored in deals for almost a year, the team sent him to the Senators on Tuesday afternoon, getting forward Zack Smith in return. A veteran of 11 National Hockey League seasons, Anisimov has 163 goals and 184 assists in 703 career regular season games.

"Turkey, a country of 80 million people, is an important North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally".

"The dilemma of a partner leaving the program is not new to the F-35 [Joint Program Office]", he said, referencing troubles the US has had getting Canada to commit to the program.

The S-400 "Triumf" is the most advanced long-range air defense missile system that went into service in Russian Federation in 2007. Nearly immediately, the deal has caused a flutter in the global roost.

According to the officials, Trump will announce the sanctions sometime later this week, after Monday's anniversary of the 2016 coup attempt against President Recip Tayyip Erdogan.

"Right now, I don't believe Trump is of the same opinion of those below him and he has said this in front of all the world's media", Erdogan said.

U.S. President Donald Trump listens during a cabinet meeting at the White House in Washington, U.S., July 16, 2019.

Trump expressed sympathy for Erdogan's position on Tuesday.

Trump acknowledged those ties on Tuesday, even as he played down any idea that he was trying to "stick up for Turkey".
