Ahead of the bail hearing, federal prosecutors argued Epstein should remain jailed while he fights charges that he exploited dozens of girls in NY and Florida in the early 2000s.

Federal prosecutors argued that Epstein was a flight risk because of his substantial wealth and asked the judge to hold him without bail until his trial.

Mr Epstein, a hedge fund manager, pleaded guilty in Florida in 2008 to a state charge of soliciting prostitution from a minor - a deal that has proved controversial in recent months with renewed focus on the case.

Berman said he considered Monday's court declarations of Annie Farmer and Courtney Wild, young women who said they had been victimized by Epstein and feared what might happen if he were granted bail.

"I find ... that the government has established danger to others and the community by clear and convincing evidence", Berman said. One prisoner, who had stayed at both MCC and the notorious Guantanamo Bay prison, said Guantanamo was nicer, according to The New York Times.

"It gives us hope that justice may truly be possible against this sex offender who has hurt so many for so long", Bloom said.

New details have emerged on billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's all-time sweetheart deal from former top Miami prosecutor Alex Acosta, as Epstein was reportedly allowed to spend hours a day in his West Palm Beach "office" as young girls were brought into the private room.

Prosecutors had anxious about Epstein fleeing the country, and said a search of his NY home turned up a bogus passport that listed a Saudi Arabia residence, along with piles of cash and dozens of diamonds. They also seized many photos of nude girls.

Epstein's attorneys did not respond to a request for comment about those allegations.

In a court filing Wednesday, prosecutors disputed a claim by defense lawyers that there was no evidence he'd ever used it, saying the Austrian passport contained stamps reflecting it was used to enter France, Spain, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia in the 1980s.

Epstein hasn't addressed how he got the foreign passport or whether he's a citizen of another country, Berman added.

After Epstein's arrest, Acosta, labor secretary for President Donald Trump, announced plans to resign effective this coming Friday. He faces up to 45 years in prison and has pled not guilty to the charges.
