In what seems to be a recurring trend with modern triple-A games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward has insisted that its upcoming reboot/sequel is not a political game.

During the Q2 2019 earnings call, Activision's own President of Publishing, Robert Kostich and COO Cody Johnson took to addressing some of the concerns that this year's Call of Duty had in terms of content, since the company announced at its reveal that it wouldn't have a traditional Season Pass tied to it. Cody stated during the presentation that fans could expect surprises after the launch of Modern Warfare, along with what they are claiming as their biggest post content support yet for a title. So if you're asking is Trump in the video game? The game where you can play as child soldiers. "We do talk about concepts like colonialism, occupation, independence and freedom". "We don't maybe say those words specifically, but that's the realm that we are in. But you could have a game that takes place in revolutionary America talk about those exact same concepts".

Kurosaki continues by saying they want to explore the concepts of people not being completely good or completely evil.

"What we want you to come away with at the end is an understanding of why all these different groups fight, or groups like them, and to have empathy for I think all of them", he says. Modern Warfare's may not address the politics of today head-on, but a game that features the CIA, British special operatives, and a rogue Russian general as its main villain inherently makes a statement about conflict, violence, and who's considered a bad guy on the global stage.

Fortnite Boycott Forces Epic Into a BRUTE-al Corner
Right now we're evaluating B.R.U.T.E. gameplay, as well as observing how it performs across all modes and skill levels. Every new Fortnite season gives us fresh skins, insane emotes, new weapons and a different world to explore.

From there, Minkoff says their goal is to present different perspectives in the game.

Battle royale wasn't part of the initial multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare, although a 50 vs 50 ground war mode was shown off - and it will possibly support more than 100 players eventually.

That's right, just as this year's Call of Duty confusingly shares the same name with its 2007 counterpart, it's looking likely that Call of Duty 2020 could do the same thing, emphasising a return to the grittier roots of the Black Ops franchise after recent instalments went full-on sci-fi with the ongoing saga.

While Call of Duty has covered both Vietnam and the Cold War in the past, the Korean Wars, which took place in the early 1950's when North Korea invaded South Korea before they were successfully repelled with the help of worldwide force, remains an anomaly in the shooter franchise's history-hopping series of campaigns.
