Financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was treated for injuries sustained in his Manhattan jail cell this week, a law enforcement source said.

Epstein's responses emerged in a partial transcript of a September 2016 deposition stemming from a defamation lawsuit.

Giuffre did name people she said sexually abused her, including Prince Andrew and lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and said in the newly unsealed documents that she had sex on the orders of Epstein with former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former U.S. Sen.

Epstein had pleaded not guilty in the case, and a federal judge had recently denied his request to be released to home confinement. Epstein replied "Fifth", citing the constitutional amendment protecting people against incriminating themselves.

To Alfredo Rodriguez, Mr. Epstein's butler in the mid-2000s, that was one reason he suspected that his boss was engaged in sexual activities with underage girls.

His arrest last month launched separate investigations into how authorities handled his case initially when similar charges were first brought against him in Florida more than a decade ago. The lawsuit sought unspecified damages.

She said Saturday that she would push to bring to justice those who helped Epstein even though his accusers will not get their day in court. Giuffre, claimed Maxwell defamed her by calling her a liar over her allegations against Maxwell and Epstein. "We're just getting started". International Business Times could not independently confirm these details. The papers portray Epstein as a sex slave-driver with an insatiable appetite for underage girls.

Giants designate second baseman Joe Panik for assignment
If he passes through waivers unclaimed, Panik can either accept an assignment to the minors or become a free agent. He was so out of the Giants' immediate plans that they acquired Dan Uggla to play second base instead of him.

"The reckoning of accountability begun by the voices of fearless and truthful victims should not end with Jeffrey Epstein's cowardly and shameful suicide", McCawley said in a statement. "Their whole entire lives revolved around sex". The alleged incidents occurred in NY and Florida, and the victims were as young as 14 years old, according to prosecutors.

The FBI is investigating the incident.

Neither Maxwell's attorney nor a public-relations firm she hired responded Friday to emails from The Associated Press.

Barr said he was "appalled" to learn of Epstein's death while in federal custody awaiting trial.

Last month, Alex Acosta resigned as United States labor secretary amid a backlash over the deal that he negotiated with Epstein in that case while he was a federal prosecutor in Florida.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Several of Epstein's accusers said Saturday that they're disappointed that the financier won't have to face them in court or serve a long prison sentence if convicted.

The Miami Herald should be given some special recognition, as their series about Epstein and his shoddy plea deal was the reason why this man was placed under the microscope again, which led to his arrest.
