The Auburn Tigers will start true freshman Bo Nix at quarterback in the season opener against OR, the school announced Tuesday.

He is the first true freshman to earn the starting job during Malzahn's six seasons at Auburn.

Nix had been battling fellow Joey Gatewood for the spot throughout fall camp in one of the more intriguing quarterback competitions of the summer.

Facebook introduces new data tool to improve transparency
Facebook said it expected the new tool would cost it revenue as it would impact its lucrative targeted-advertising business model. The social network expects some impact on its business but believes giving people control over their data is more important.

Auburn takes on the Oregon Ducks to start the season August 31st in Arlington, Texas. Nix's father, Patrick, played quarterback for the Tigers from 1992-95.

Nix was a five-star prospect, the No. 33 overall player and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2019. He set Alabama state career records with 12,000-plus yards of total offense and 161 touchdowns accounted for, including 127 passing and 34 rushing.
