News of the glitch has gone viral on the Chinese social media.

Biluo, known for her soft voice and cute features, experienced a technical glitch during a live stream on July 25 while fans asked her to take the filter off.

After her request, a number of her followers started sending her donations with one as large as CNY 40,000 (roughly Rs. 4,00,000).

The middle-aged woman began her live stream with a filter covering her face, telling fans, "I can't show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 Yuan". The handsome vlogger was a 58-year-old woman who was using the video filters that were available on the platform for deceiving people into giving her donations. Many of them urged her to show her face, but she refused. Needless to say, her followers were shocked.

Beauty filters are not unheard of in the United Kingdom - with Snapchat and Instagram users using the technology to alter their faces, in everything from still images to live videos. For those who might be confused as I was at first, Qiao Biluo is the woman on the right.

Some users are saying it's good riddance to her for conning people out of their money.

"Granny", which is what fans call her following the incident, is now back to streaming and wants to become a rapper.

U.S., Chinese officials show signs of trade progress in Shanghai
Trump has raised tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese imports while Beijing responded by taxing $110 billion of US products. That hints at the signals we can expect to see from the United States between now and the resumption of talks in September.

Biluo has claimed the glitch was intentional to add to her fame.

A popular Chinese blogger who had been secretly using a face app to alter her appearance has been exposed online.

None of her 100,000 subscribers knew that Dianxia had been secretly using a filter on her face during her countless performances on Douyu, a popular live-sharing website in China. Broadcast media in China is tightly controlled, and with the exception of news coverage, footage on TV needs weeks of approval before it can be aired.

Live-streamers in China are often discouraged from broadcasting in a public sphere, and are harshly restricted on what they can and cannot say. Expressing their opinions could result in a backlash from the authorities if the content is deemed to be politically sensitive or against government rhetoric.

Consequently, many live-streamers simply sing karaoke in their bedrooms, or eat snacks for hours on end.

However, the situation seems to have turned around for Biluo, with her followers on Douyu rising from 100,000 to 650,000 since the incident.
