Another guest, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, attempted to lower the temperature of the conversation.

Maher made similar comments in the Overtime segment of his late-night show last week, saying that a recession would be "worth it", despite the contention of business columnist Josh Barro, who reminded him that "recessions are really bad" and that many people would lose their jobs.

"I really do", Maher responded.

During a discussion on his show with panelists including former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), Maher said the USA could "survive" another recession but warned it would not withstand a second term of a Trump presidency.

President Donald Trump's government apparently was interrupted by Actual Time right now, and POTUS clapped again at its "wacko" host's "many false statements".
