After a call for a welfare check Wednesday afternoon, deputies found 63-year-old Barry Bennett and 66-year-old Carol Bennett dead at their home on Ginsend Road in Long Prairie.

Investigators later identified the suspect as 22-year-old Dylan John Bennett.

Their bodies were found Wednesday in their home near Long Prairie, a small town about two hours northwest of Minneapolis.

Todd County Sheriff Todd Och said Dylan John Bennett, 22, is a suspect and asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact authorities. Neighbors say he was the victim's youngest son.

He is believed to be driving a blue 2018 Hyundai Sante Fe with a Minnesota license plate of BCK-487.

The FBI was called in to assist in the investigation because it's believed Dylan has already left the state.

Barry Bennett played 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings.

Messages seeking comment from a Jets spokesman and the Todd County Sheriff's Office were not immediately returned Friday.

He subsequently became a physical education teacher in Long Prairie, but retired, according to The Star Tribune. "Everyone was in shock when they heard".

The former National Football League player was very involved in the Long Prairie community, Jon Kringen, superintendent of Long Prairie Grey Eagle Public Schools, told ABC News. People are lost for understanding.
