His son Karti Chidambaram is also an accused in the INX Media case.

So, it is still not clear whether Chidambaram's plea challenging the Delhi High Court's order in the INX media case will be heard by Supreme Court today or not.

I strongly condemn this disgraceful misuse of power. They said the alert notice against the Congress leader has been sent to all land, air and seaports and law enforcement agencies at these facilities.

In his 67 page petition, Chidambaram questioned the move by CBI of pasting the notice on his house late at night and asking him to join probe at such an odd hour and said, "CBI has just called me once in the investigation of the case and I went and answered all questions and was never called again, so what is the motive of putting up such a notice".

Rejecting Mr Chidambaram's request for anticipatory bail, the Delhi High Court yesterday said "prima facie", the facts of the case revealed that the "petitioner is the kingpin or key conspirator in the case". The judges had this morning forwarded his petition to Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra " An extremely qualified and respected member of the Rajya Sabha, P Chidambaram ji has served our nation with loyalty for decades including as Finance Minister and Home Minister", she said in a tweet. "He unhesitatingly speaks truth to power and exposes the failures of this government". "We stand by his quest for truth no matter what", read a tweet by the party's official Twitter handle.

A govt that persecutes its citizens for speaking truth to power is only reiterating its own cowardly nature.

The Brief: British government speeds up preparations for a no-deal Brexit
The government said its auto-enrolment scheme would mean 88,000 more firms would be registered. Calais has invested £20 million in no-deal contingency planning.

"Sorry, Mr Sibal. We can not hear the matter", said Justices NV Ramana, M Shantanagoudar and Ajay Rastogi.

After addressing the media, Chidambaram helped by a ruckus outside 24 Akbar Road, gave another slip to the CBI officers and landed at his Jor Bagh residence followed by a team from the CBI and ED.

The allegations in the case centre around the role of Chidambaram, who is a senior leader of the Congress party that is now in opposition, his son Karti Chidambaram, and several former government officials, in approving the acquisition of telecoms firm, Aircel Ltd, by a Malaysian firm, Maxis Bhd.

On May 15, 2017, the CBI registered an FIR, alleging irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board's (FIPB) clearance for INX Media to receive overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram's tenure as finance minister in the UPA government.

Calling it a classic case of money laundering, Justice Sunil Gaur said: "It was pertinently observed that the economic crimes of such mammoth scale are craftily planned and executed".
