"The announcement made about the possible presence of the al-Quds occupying regime [Israel] in the self-proclaimed military coalition in the Persian Gulf region is a blatant threat to Iran's national security", said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. President Donald Trump claimed the USA warship took out an Iranian drone about a month after the Revolutionary Guards shot down a US drone in the Persian Gulf region.

Britain, which has two warships in the region, has already joined the coalition.

Traffic in the Strait, through which about a fifth of the world's oil passes, has become the focus of a standoff between Iran and the United States after President Donald Trump quit a 2015 nuclear pact and reimposed sanctions on Tehran.

Tensions in the Persian Gulf have increased following the seizure of an Iranian oil tanker in Gibraltar and Iranian backlash over the arrest of a British oil tanker.

Iran meanwhile shot down an American drone in June, with Trump saying he called off retaliatory air strikes at the last minute, and the U.S. says it has since downed one and possibly two of Tehran's unmanned aircraft, which the Islamic republic has denied.

Iran's Defense Minister Amir Hatami discussed the US-proposed coalition to monitor the Persian Gulf region in a phone conversation with defense officials from Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.

He added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to counter this threat and defend its territory within the framework of the country's deterrence and defensive policy, and will have no hesitation in translating it into action as part of its defensive policies".

On July 19, Iran seized a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that it had collided with a fishing boat and violated global law.

He also said: "Iran has a vital role in security of the Hormuz Strait". "The Islamic Republic is in a full-scale war", Salami said.

The Nicaraguan president had maintained that his country would never accept the US' notion of sanctions, saying the sanctions against his people and Iranian people are unilateral and unlawful.

Last month, the US claimed to have downed an Iranian drone, though Tehran disputed this.

In 2018, Hebrew-language media outlets quoted Palestinian sources who said Iran's payments to Hamas at the time amounted to $70 million per year (less than $6 million per month).

It was not immediately clear if the offer was strictly conditioned on the intelligence provided by the terror groups.
