Jimmy Garoppolo's rust shows in disastrous preseason debut

Kyle Shanahan's confidence in his franchise quarterback isn't waning after Jimmy Garoppolo played poorly in his first game action in almost 11 months. Denver Broncos defenders got their hands on each of the quarterback's first four passes, including the interception on his second pass of the game.

Garoppolo, however, didn't blame Monday night's performance on his knee. You wish you could be out there for more so you could bounce back.

Garoppolo guided San Francisco to five consecutive victories at the end of the 2017 season, giving the 49ers hope that they had found a quarterback to lead the franchise into the future. And after he led San Francisco to five straight wins to close out 2017, the 49ers rewarded him with a five-year contract worth a guaranteed $90 million over its first three years, at the time the largest such deal in National Football League history despite his limited starting experience. It was good for him because it's a big hurdle to get out there for the first time, but we haven't seen any issues with the knee.

"The one thing that I saw differently once I watched the tape was the interception", Shanahan said. It was his first game action since September 23, when he tore his left ACL in a game against the Chiefs.

President Trump Shifts Away from Background Check Push
Congressional Democrats did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the president's remarks on guns. And we're looking at different things. "These are sick people", Trump said. "It's a mental health problem".

"Yeah, of course", Shanahan said.

Garoppolo has only started 10 games in his National Football League career, so the jury is still out on whether he is the long-term solution San Francisco hopes he is.

"As the offense, once we got that first down, you kind of start rolling. Some guys don't come back from [injury] as well", Coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. "He's had a year off football, and before that he only played about eight games total". "The more he can play, the better". "Unfortunately, we don't get to play the whole game right now, so I only get so many plays". I think we only got one of those tonight. But it is what it is. "It's preseason right now, so we just have to take it in stride". He was 1-for-6 for no yards with an interception in the first quarter. San Francisco's quarterbacks combined to complete just 8 of 20 passes for 108 yards on the night.
