His death sparked questions about whether the alleged victims will have a full chance at justice, though U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said the federal investigation into allegations that Epstein ran a sex trafficking ring remains ongoing.

Epstein, a convicted paedophile who hobnobbed with countless politicians and celebrities over the years, was found dead in his cell on Saturday while awaiting trial on federal charges he trafficked underage girls for sex.

The search was initiated by the Epstein task force, which is led by the US attorney's office for the Southern District of NY.

Epstein bought the 71.5-acre island in 1998 for $7.95 million, and allegedly used it for sex parties involving underage girls and rich and powerful guests for years.

Now that the criminal case against NY financier Jeffrey Epstein has effectively ended - following his death over the weekend - many are wondering whether charges could be on the way for other high-profile individuals close to the convicted sex offender.

Jail policy called for guards to check on Epstein every 30 minutes, but investigators have learned those checks weren't done for several hours in the hours before he was discovered unresponsive.

Attorney General William Barr said Monday that he was "frankly angry to learn of the MCC's failure to adequately secure this prisoner".

"Any co-conspirators should not rest easy", Barr, the top US law enforcement official, said at an event in New Orleans. Epstein's alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell also joined the couple on the 2001 trip, according to ABC News.

"We have to live with the scars of his actions for the rest of our lives, while he will never face the consequences of the crimes he committed the pain and trauma he caused so many people".

Sampson said private pathologist Michael Baden observed the autopsy on behalf of Epstein's representatives.

The day after Epstein's death in prison, Barr announced he had asked the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General to investigate the circumstances surrounding the matter, in addition to an FBI investigation that already launched.

On July 24, Epstein was reportedly found injured and semi-conscious in his prison cell, with marks on his neck. In the documents, a woman accused a prominent law professor, a member of the British royal family and a former USA governor of being connected with Epstein's pedophile activities.

Brown explained that Epstein kept some of his victims under his wing by turning them into "recruiters" who would find new, younger women for him to abuse once they became "too old" for him.

"(Legal) proceedings are not decided on by the government", she said, noting that since 2013 it is forbidden in France for a justice minister to give prosecutors instructions relating to individual investigations. Now, the Left had peddled some whacko nonsense, with MSNBC going full-blown insane insinuating that AG Barr might be involved in Epstein's death or the Russians.
