LG K50S and K40S mid-range smartphones announced ahead of September launch

The camera on the back has been upgraded with a 2MP depth sensor joining the 13MP regular and 5MP ultrawide units.

LG has announced the new mid-range K50S and K40S smartphones, both of which will be unveiled at consumer electronics show IFA in Berlin, in September. Last but not least, LG's phones should stand up to the rigors of daily use, as both are to meet the USA military MIL-STD-810G standard for durability.

The LG K50S comes with a 13MP main camera sensor on the rear with LED flash and a there is a secondary 5MP Ultra-Wide sensor also which is accompanied with 2MP depth-sensing camera.

Parading a 19.5:9 aspect ratio HD+ FullVision Display, both the LG K40s and LG K50s are MIL-STD-810G compliant that can withstand impact, vibration, high temperature, low temperature, thermal shock, and humidity.

The LG K40s comes with an unnamed processor, having a 2GHz octa-core CPU. And because great content can only be truly enjoyed with great sound, both smartphones deliver realistic and dynamic audio with DTS:X 3D Surround Sound.

The LG K50S and K40S will be available in Europe, Latin America, and Asia starting this October.

LG just announced two new-midrange phones a couple of weeks ahead of IFA 2019. The rear camera setup is backed by LG's AI Cam features. For selfies, there is a 13MP front-facing camera which also supports AI facial unlocking.

The LG K50S has 32GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). The smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor at the back.

On the core specs front both phones are powered by Mediatek Helio P22 SoCs, up to 3GB RAM, and feature 32GB expandable storage.

"The LG K40s, on the other hand, gets a more compact 6.1" screen with HD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop notch for a 13 MP selfie camera. Besides, it packs a 4,000mAh battery and measures 165.8x77.5x8.2mm. It features two rear cameras, with a main 13MP shooter and a secondary super wide angle sensor. It has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ A-GPS on the part of connectivity options.

The handset also has a slightly larger battery than the K40, with a 3,500mAh capacity.
