Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept ‘breaks two Nurburgring lap records’

The Nürburgring has a new front-driven champion*

The lap time is three seconds faster than the record for four-door cars, formerly held by Jaguar, and 25 seconds faster than the record for front-wheel driven cars, formerly held by Renault.

Cyan Racing (formerly known as Polestar) and Lynk & Co, a Swedish-Chinese auto manufacturer owned by Geely, have just broken not one, but two Nurburgring lap records: Fastest four-door and fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle around the track.

Formerly known as Polestar, Cyan Racing took down the Nürburgring record for a four-door production auto with a Volvo S60 Polestar back in 2016, but made a decision to keep the accomplishment a secret for about a year. We suspect it wasn't keeping tabs on Cyan Racing. The time works out at an average of 170,4 km/h across the entire lap.

Klopp hails 'amazing' Salah as Liverpool down Arsenal
What does it mean? It was partly successful for 40 minutes, with Arsenal coping with aerial bombardment and sustained pressure. The Egypt superstar did not have a huge impact on the first half but burst into life following the resumption.

So, is the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept the fastest production four-door and FWD auto to ever lap the 'Ring? The Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept lapped the shorter version of the circuit in 7:15.123. However, there's a catch: the 03 is a racing prototype and not a production vehicle.

Powering the Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Concept is a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. It does the 0 to 62 mph run in 4.4 seconds and the 0-124 mph sprint in 10 seconds before topping out at 193 mph. That's because it is. In addition, a production version will be sold "in very limited numbers to VIP customers" in the same specification as the concept.

However, as is often the case with such records, there is a huge caveat - in this case, it's the fact that the records were set by a pre-production development auto. "The record we achieved here is something I rank on the same level as my racing titles and a highlight in my part of transitioning development from race to road cars". It's up to you to decide.
