"Missy's impact on the music landscape is indelible", MTV's global co-brand head and Viacom music and music talent head Bruce Gillmer said. Additionally, her evolving passion for dance and visual arts has resulted in some of the most innovative, celebrated and revolutionary music videos and live performances of our time.

MTV made the announcement on Monday (Aug. 12).

Elliott, a five-time Grammy Award victor and the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, thanks to hits like "Work It", "Get Ur Freak On" and "WTF (Where They From)".
