‘Kill first!’ Netanyahu claims Israel’s Syria strikes thwarted imminent ‘Iranian aggression’

A military source told SANA that at 11:30 PM on Saturday, air defenses detected hostile targets approaching from above the Golan towards the surroundings of Damascus, and the attack was dealt with immediately and efficiently, destroying most of the Israeli rockets before they could reach their targets.

"The IDF is prepared to continue defending the State of Israel against any attempts to harm it and holds Iran and the Syrian regime directly responsible for the thwarted attack", the military said in a statement.

Conricus, however, said the impact of the Israeli sites was "significant".

This is a developing story.

IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said the Al Quds force, working with allied Shiite militias, had been planning to send a number of explosives-laden attack drones into Israel.

Israel says it is determined to prevent its arch-foe Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria, where Tehran backs Assad's regime.

An AFP correspondent in Damascus heard several large explosions before Sana announced the defensive action.

The woman from Fujairah told the court she has grown exhausted of her husband because he never yells at her and was always kind. Meanwhile, the husband said he did not do anything wrong and wished to be a ideal and kind husband.

The official could not confirm if the drones were Israeli or if they had been shot down by Hezbollah. "Our forces operate in every direction against Iranian aggression". Russia, which is also aiding Assad, has largely turned a blind eye to the Israeli air strikes.

"The aggression is ongoing and air defences are confronting hostile targets and are downing majority in the southern region", state media outlet SANA said, indicating areas south of Damascus.

During an interview on Israel's Channel 9 television Thursday, Netanyahu, who also acts as the country's defense minister, was asked whether Israeli forces "were acting in the whole region, including Iraq. against the Iranian threat". "Iran has no immunity anywhere".

The late-night airstrike, which triggered Syrian anti-aircraft fire, appeared to be one of the most intense attacks by Israeli forces on Iranian targets in Syria.

Israel says it has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria against Iranian targets trying to establish a permanent military presence there and against advanced weapon shipments to Tehran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed responsibility for the airstrikes, saying it was necessary to thwart multiple attacks by what it called killer, or kamikaze, drones, of a kind not previously used by Iranian forces against Israel.
