Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said Pakistan as a responsible state awaits resolution of Kashmir dispute under United Nations resolutions and worldwide laws.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said China has assured full support on the Kashmir issue.

China is gravely concerned about the situation in Kashmir, senior diplomat Wang Yi said on Friday.

Authorities enforcing a strict curfew in Indian-administered Kashmir say they will bring in trucks of essential supplies for an Islamic festival next week, as the divided Himalayan region remains in a lockdown following India's decision to strip it of its constitutional autonomy.

Wang Yi said his country will continue to support Pakistan in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests and uphold justice for Pakistan on the global arena.

"They (international community) has called upon Pakistan to ensure that they do not take steps, including cross border infiltration, that would be detrimental to peace and security", they said, adding that this is what the U.S. and other major players are working on to prevent Pakistan from unleashing non-state actors.

China urged India and Pakistan to avoid unilateral actions, and to seek a new path of peaceful coexistence. He said Chinese side has agreed that the steps taken by India are unilateral that have changed the status quo and structure of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan has said that it would "utilise all options" against India after the government's historic move. He said the response of Chinese leadership was according to our expectations. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, also reiterated the EU's stance of continuing to back a "bilateral solution" between India and Pakistan on Kashmir.

China which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council is, moreover, Pakistan's staunchest regional ally and the government felt it important to consult Chinese leaders before taking the matter to the Security Council as decided by the National Security Committee meeting.
