New England acquired third-year tight end Eric Saubert from the Falcons on Monday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Saubert, who was drafted out of Drake University in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, saw action in all 16 games last season, including one start.

Saubert was a fifth-round selection by Atlanta in the 2017 National Football League draft. He's expected to add depth to New England's tight-end corps but not necessarily fill the team's need for elite options at the position. He's posted five catches for 48 yards. By bringing Mularkey in to coach tight ends, to go with offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter's penchant to use the position quite a bit, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see Atlanta keep four tight ends on the roster.

Eddie Murphy Plays Rudy Ray Moore in Netflix’s ‘Dolemite Is My Name’
By looking at the first footage, it's clear this isn't going to be a paint-by-numbers affair, which is refreshing. Murphy plays Moore in Dolemite Is My Name , which comes to Netflix and select theaters this fall .

Jaeden Graham is the real beneficiary of this trade, though. Saubert's acquisition comes on the heels of a leg injury Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse suffered in Thursday's preseason win over the Lions.

Unless Hooper gets injured, the Falcons should be more than set at this spot and won't miss Saubert much.
