Q2 Weather: Showers and thunderstorms possible through the weekend

With a more northerly track, enough warm and humid air could rush in to heighten the prospect of strong / severe storms. That means scattered severe storms are possible. The Storm Prediction Center has us at a level 2 for severe storms. Some storms could have areas of heavy rain and small hail in addition to strong wind gusts and lightning. Expect lows in the low 70s.

A nice break from the heat and humidity, just in time for the weekend.

Most spots picked up a few hundredths of an inch of rainfall this morning and now we have plenty of clouds that look like they are going to release more raindrops but besides an isolated shower we will stay dry this evening and tonight.

A partly cloudy evening will take us into the overnight with low temps bottoming out around 60 degrees by daybreak Sunday.

Temperatures will warm back to near 90 on Monday.

Pennsylvania day care centre fire kills 5 children
Authorities say an early morning fire in Pennsylvania claimed the lives of five children and sent another person to the hospital. Firefighters have not determined a cause, however, they are looking at the possibility that the fire may have been set.

Great looking weather conditions are in store for today across West Michigan as mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are to be in control. Highs will reach the lower 90s with a light south wind. Temperatures will feel closer to the triple digits though, thanks to the humidity. Showers and storms will be possible Wednesday and Thursday.

After cooler highs near 80 next Friday with lows in the 50s, 80s will return that weekend with higher humidity.

Highs will run in the muggy 80s. Showers and storms will move in during the afternoon hours. Even cooler to end the work week.

Monday, Aug. 12 will be mostly sunny and again pleasant with a high in the low 80s.
