West Indies Resist Sentimental Chris Gayle Test Recall To Face India

More than an hour and a half later, the umpires made a decision to call off the match.

Veteran opening batsman Chris Gayle is playing his 299th One-day worldwide, equalling the mark of Brian Lara for the most matches in the format by a West Indian.

Rahkeem Cornwall has received a surprise maiden Test call up for West Indies for their upcoming series against India.

Cornwall, who featured in an ODI against England for the West Indies Cricket Board President's XI in 2017, has also proven himself as a lower-order batsman, averaging just under 25 in 97 innings.

After a delayed start, the match was interrupted on multiple occasions.

First, he started off by showing off his dance moves to the crowd.

Gill's impressive knock comes days after he failed to find a spot in India's tour of the West Indies.

Love Island Winner Amber Gill Lands Dancing On Ice Gig
Amber will follow in the footsteps of former islanders Wes Nelson and Kem Cetinay who both took on the dancing contest. Two weeks before the end of the show, she ditched Michael (thank god) and hooked up with Limerick lad Greg instead.

With Mohammed Shami, from around the wicket, troubling the sedate Gayle, and Lewis failing to find gaps in the infield, the teams first left the ground after 5.4 overs with West Indies yet to reach double digits. The play did not start immediately as the umpires reckoned the ground staff need more time to get the ground ready.

The players later walked off the field and the ground staff were seen spraying a lot of sawdust on the wet areas.

When play finally resumed 50 minutes later, the affair had been further reduced to 34 overs per side, and Lewis nearly immediately set about the Indian bowling with relish.

When the action resumed, the home side looked in good shape as Evin Lewis clicked into gear, hitting two sixes and a pair of fours in the space of seven balls.

The second ODI of the three-match series will now be played in Port of Spain on Sunday.

Earlier, Kohli's men were at their ruthless best, sweeping the Twenty20 worldwide series 3-0.
