Kyle Lowry of the NBA champion Toronto Raptors will withdraw from the United States' national team's scrimmage Friday as his surgically repaired thumb has not recovered sufficiently enough to allow him to fight for the FIBA World Cup.

Another All-Star has excused himself from the US men's basketball team, as Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry became the latest to withdraw, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN relayed.

He was a member of the 2016 gold-medal team and still hopes to represent U.S. at the 2020 Olympics.

Lowry was present at Team USA's recent training camp in Las Vegas but didn't participate in any basketball-related activities.

Lori Loughlin 'obsessing over' legal docs in college admissions case
Fuller House star Lori Loughlin seems to be rethinking her legal strategy, according to new reports in Us Weekly and People . While the family is united, Loughlin and Giannulli are due back in court August 27, and the date couldn't come any sooner.

"At the end of the day I believe the men that are playing will be great and will win the gold for our country".

The news of his departure comes just a day after Marvin Bagley III also withdrew. Bagley was not immediately replaced, and unless that changes the US will have 16 players still in the mix for 12 final roster spots.

USA coach Gregg Popovich is also awaiting word on the fitness of Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who missed the intra-squad exhibition game in Las Vegas on Friday with tightness in his calf.

"This is the most satisfying form of putting a bunch of guys together and them have empathy and love for each other to form the kind of team they're going to have to beat some really good European teams".

NBA stars to have pulled out of Team USA since a provisional World Cup squad was first announced include perennial NBA All-Stars Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), James Harden (Houston Rockets), Damien Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers) and DeMar DeRozan (San Antonio Spurs).
