UK’s Metro Police to sanction Khafi for Big Brother Naija appearance

Metropolitan Police Officer is facing an investigation after her appearance on the Nigerian version of Big Brother.

Earlier, the Metropolitan Police said it was carrying out an internal investigation after PC Khafi Kareem - known as Khafi on the show - went on the programme "without authority".

According to The Sun, she joined the force as a PC based at Lambeth station in 2015, having worked part-time as a special constable for four years. Permission was not given.

She urged people to back "TEAMKHAFI" and shared a link through which to vote and shared a statement from the show's management which described her as "a proud black female police officer" as it warned that legal action was being considered. "The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and will be investigating the circumstances".

Last year, Kareem appeared alongside the Met commissioner, Cressida Dick, as she launched a recruitment drive aimed at women outside New Scotland Yard.

They also clarified that Ms Kareem had requested the unpaid leave before she asked if she could go on the show.

"This brazenly defamatory outburst by The Sun UK is written in poor taste without considering the ethics of journalism which seeks balance and objectivity".

In a statement released on Khafi's official Instagram handle, the management said 'Khafi is a proud black female officer who prides herself in her work and has dedicated her youthful years protecting and serving with her many skills which include the ability to speak at least five global languages'.

Jeffrey Epstein's Death Was Announced on 4Chan, Authorities Had to Investigate
Saturday, around 40 minutes before The Post broke the news of the convicted pedophile's death, Buzzfeed News reported . Donald Trump said earlier he wanted a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Epstein's death.

Africa Magic, the TV company behind Big Brother Naija, said that she had joined the show "so that she can do societal good".

Publicity material for the programme showed Miss Kareem in her uniform, branding her a talented singer and dancer.

If she wins the prize money, equivalent to £68,000, she said she would hire a camera crew to host a travel show in Nigeria and "invest in charitable causes".

But she was granted unpaid leave and entered the show, in which she has formed a relationship with fellow contestant Ekpata Gedoni, 31, the Sun reported.

Her social media pages have been promoting posts encouraging viewers to "save her".

In a statement released on her official Instagram handle on Tuesday, the management wrote, "Khafi is a proud black female officer who prides herself in her work and has dedicated her youthful years protecting and serving with her many skills which include the ability to speak at least five global languages".

When she was pictured with Ms Dick past year, Khafi told The Guardian: "I didn't want any career to be off-limits to me because I was a female, or a black female". She has also spoken about how she was celibate for eight years after becoming a Christian as a teenager.
