'But Cuba is an island and Venezuela is a massive coastline.

The report on Trump's interest in adding a naval blockade to the many sanctions adopted by his administration against Venezuela appears after the president ordered on August 6 to bloc all assets and interests owned by the Venezuelan government under USA jurisdiction.

Such a move, according to sources familiar with the matter, could prevent goods from coming in and out of the country, Axios media outlet reported. "It would need massive, massive amounts of resources; probably more than the US Navy can provide", the source said, cited by Axios.

AP says the information came from a senior Trump administration official.

Trump, meanwhile, is getting frustrated that Maduro is still in power, and he has suggested publicly and pushed "more vividly" in private for the U.S.to set up a naval blockade along Venezuela's coast, five current and former officials tell Axios. Maduro, recognized by China and Russian Federation among numerous other countries, has accused the United States of seeking to overthrow his government and install Guaido in a bid to get hold of Venezuela's vast fossil fuel resources. However, the attempt "failed completely", as the Venezuelan government put it.

Jimmy Garoppolo struggles in preseason debut for 49ers with no passing yards
San Francisco's quarterbacks combined to complete just 8 of 20 passes for 108 yards on the night. But it is what it is. "It's preseason right now, so we just have to take it in stride".

A senior Trump administration official has told the AP that the USA has opened up secret communications with Venezuela's socialist party boss as members of President Nicolas Maduro's inner circle seek guarantees they won't face retribution if they cede to growing demands to remove him.

Officials say that President Trump has repeatedly raised the idea of a full naval blockade being imposed on Venezuela for at least the previous year and a half as a way of trying to impose regime change, saying the US Navy could prevent all ships from entering and exiting the large South American country.

A second meeting is reportedly in the works but has not yet taken place.

According to OPEC's secondary sources-the ones the cartel considers the official production figures-Venezuela's crude oil production in July 2019 dropped by 32,000 bpd from June to 742,000 bpd.
