Amazon launches new Fire TV Cube

JVC Fire TV Edition

JVC Fire TV Edition

This is the first time Amazon has expanded its Fire TV Edition series outside of television sets and is possibly the most intriguing product included in today's announcement. The company has launched the all-new Amazon Fire TV Cube, along with new Fire TV Edition products that include a soundbar, OLED TVs, and more. Priced at $229 / £179 (around AU$340), the Nebula is set for initial release in the US, UK, Canada, and Germany on November 21.

First up, Amazon is expanding its range of Fire TV Edition smart TVs with the introduction of compatible products from TV manufacturers Toshiba, JVC, IMTRON, and Grundig.

"For example, 'Alexa, scroll right, ' 'Alexa, go home, ' 'Alexa, select number one, ' and more, are up to four times as fast as before", Amazon said.

Amazon is also offering a bundle of the Fire TV Cube and Ring Video Doorbell 2 for $250. Join our Cord Cutting Tech Support Facebook Group for help.

Smart soundbars, meanwhile, still have to prove their worth as a product category.

Many of you may remember that the Fire TV Cube was first released in the U.S. last summer, and ever since I've seen periodic comments asking when it's coming to the UK. It begins shipping October 10 in the U.S. The device is the successor to the original Fire TV Cube, which was launched in June 2018 and combined the capabilities of the Fire TV range and the Echo range of Alexa-enabled smart speakers.

RUMOR: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition may include cut content from the original
There's a webpage up for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, though it doesn't shed any additional information. For a full list of all the SNES games coming to Swtich Online, check out Nintendo's announcement page .

Via its internet connection, the Cube can access Netflix, YouTube, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, and more plus Fire TV gives customers access to tens of thousands of apps, Alexa skills, and channels, as well as over 200,000 TV episodes and movies with thousands of titles in 4K Ultra HD. Meaning, you only need the sound bar and you'll improve your TVs sound and have the ability to stream content through the Fire TV interface.

The Fire TV Cube is available to pre-order today with an infrared extender cable and an Ethernet adapter for shipping in early October for $119.99 in the US, Canada $149.99, United Kingdom for £109.99. By which I mean they are actual televisions, not a Fire TV Stick. But for those in the Amazon ecosystem looking to boost their television's audio performance without needing to pick up a standalone Fire TV Stick, will the Nebula soundbar do the job?

The HDR 10+ support in the Cube brings it to parity with the 4K Fire TV stick. Now the United Kingdom is getting more of a taste, as Amazon unveils a range of Fire TV OS tellies from JVC. A new 65-inch Toshiba with Dolby Vision will be available in the us next month.

It also uses multi-directional infrared technology, HDMI CEC and cloud-based artificial intelligence to allow Alexa to control all your kit, including TVs, AV receivers, and set-top boxes.

In the U.S., Roku OS is the No. 1 licensed TV OS in the U.S. and now powers more than 1 in 3 smart TVs.
