Arsene Wenger admits he still craves the 'excitement' of football management

Five key things to know...

Wenger has been out of job since quitting his role as manager with Arsenal in the summer of 2018.

The Frenchman said he has turned down offers but he is desperate to return on the bench one day and experience the intensity of football.

The Frenchman had spent 22 years in North London, where he won the Premier League three times and the FA Cup seven times.

The Frenchman, who finally feels "disconnected" from the Gunners, has found it hard to reject offers to return to the touchline over the last 16 months.

Asked by the Doha-based broadcaster if he could see himself at the 2022 World Cup as a spectator or working for a team, Wenger said: "I could see myself working for a team".

'I had a reluctance to go back into the heat again but it was hard to say no to some people'.

The former Monaco boss has been working as a TV pundit since he left the Emirates stadium, and has now made it known he will return to coaching.

In an interview with beIN SPORTS, Wenger said: 'I can not live today with the fact I will never be on the bench again.

"I never felt that I could live without Arsenal, being disconnected with the club", he added.

"It will be interesting to see how they develop, but overall I must say I always wanted to go to the World Cup because I felt it is the job of a manager to be where the best football players in the world play football".

"What I want for sure is to share what I know, and what I have learnt as much as I can in the game". Enough time will have passed and I will have been given sufficient distance from my most recent job.
