No one knows what "Dark Army" entails, but it's believed that it will "include characters from Universal's classic monster library and original characters created by Feig". The studio has struggled with giving their iconic horror characters new life in recent years, first with 2014's Dracula Untold and again with 2017's The Mummy, which was meant to launch the ill-fated "Dark Universe" - an interconnected universe of monster epics in the vein of spooky superhero movies.

The announcement comes two months before the studio opens Feig's romantic comedy "Last Christmas", starring Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Emma Thompson. He will also be producing a number of upcoming titles, including HBO Max's Love Life, Lionsgate TV's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Universal's When Michael Met Carrie...and Other People, and 20th Century Fox's American Princess.

Feig is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.
