Fickin in, Vedvik out as Jets kicker carousel spins

Two former star NFL kickers crush Jets over their self-made mess of a kicking game

The New York Jets have been frantically searching for a kicker ever since veteran Chandler Catanzaro shockingly retired this summer.

Two days after Kaare Vedvik's disastrous National Football League debut, the Jets have signed Sam Ficken, who was cut recently by the Green Bay Packers.

Next up on the Jets' constantly spinning kicking carousel: Sam Ficken.

Ficken was originally signed as a free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars after going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Michael Schumacher is 'conscious' - nurse reveals
The unnamed nurse was quoted saying, "Yes he is in my service", the nurse revealed. "And I can assure you that he's conscious". Professor Menasche is in charge of a group of about 10 people responsible for Schumacher's care and security.

Ficken's only National Football League experience is filling in for injured Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein in 2017 and 2018. He is 3-for-6 on field goals and 14-for-15 on PATs in four career games with the Rams (in 2017 and 2018).

Kaare Vedvik's debut with the New York Jets on Sunday was disastrous, complete with two missed kicks in a 17-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Jets head coach Adam Gase expressed his frustration in his team's kicking performance after NY lost by a point in their season-opener. It began in March when the Jets opted not to sign Jason Myers, who made the Pro Bowl for them a year ago. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks, who gave him a $5.5 million guarantee. Taylor Bertolet then got a shot, but was inconsistent over three preseason games.

Vedvik was coveted by teams in need of kicking help after impressing as Justin Tucker's preseason backup with the Baltimore Ravens. It was a stunner because they had traded a fifth-round pick for him. The Jets picked him up off waivers ahead of their season opener. Gase was part of that decision, but he was in no mood to reflect on it.
