Study Finds That the Vast Majority of Respiratory Diseases in Vapers Are Linked to Illegal THC Products

Megan Constantino, 36, from St. Petersburg, Florida, quit vaping 6 days ago in response to reports of the illnesses and deaths related to vaping. They have quickly become the "most commonly-used tobacco product among USA teens". No specific product or substance has been linked to all cases though some users reported using products containing THC, the high-inducing substance in marijuana.

Nieuwenhuis says the vapor not only affects the person vaping, but also the people around them while they're doing it.

On Tuesday, the DOH announced that in 2018, one in 15 public middle school students - or about 13,000 students - reported they were now using e-cigarettes, or were vaping.

US public health officials are investigating 450 cases of vaping-related lung illness across 33 states and one USA territory. "In general, vaping of unknown substances is unsafe, and we continue to explore all options to combat this public health issue".

It's an acronym for what health officials are calling "vaping associated pulmonary injury".

Two weeks ago, the Department of Justice offered a set of recommendations to the White House. "I'm not happy", stated Sen. Trump has spoken with several lawmakers sponsoring gun policy bills, including a 30-minute meeting with Democratic Sen.

The CDC is recommending people avoid vaping or using e-cigarettes. At least five people have died in California, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and OR as a result of the infections. Investigators say numerous cases involve vaping products that include the primary ingredient of marijuana, THC. Everywhere you go teens and adults alike are using Juuls and other forms of e-cigarettes.

Canadian officials are monitoring the situation in the U.S. Last week, Health Canada warned people who vape to monitor themselves for symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing and chest pain. Lee Norman said health officials nationwide continue to work aggressively to gather information and determine what has caused these lung injuries. The department is analyzing samples submitted by the states for the presence of a broad range of chemicals, including nicotine, THC and other cannabinoids along with dilutants and other additives, pesticides, opioids, poisons, and toxins.

NY officials on Monday announced plans to strengthen regulations of vaping and e-cigarette products amid heightened public health concerns surrounding the use of the products.

Cuomo said stores that sell e-cigarettes will be required to disclose potential health consequences. It likely will not be long until Vitamin E acetate is identified as the commonality in all vaping products and the respiratory illness they are causing across the entire nation.
