"The main problem with the lodge is there's just one road in and one road out, we had crews in close vicinty last night but they couldn't make entry to the grounds, it's a very skinny road and surrounded by huge trees".

Residents living around the small Queensland town of Ballandean are being told to evacuate as worsening conditions fuel yet another fire in the Granite Belt.

Fire and Emergency crew battle bushfire near a house in the rural town of Canungra in the Scenic Rim region of South East Queensland, Australia, on September 6, 2019.

Although the worst may be for areas surrounding the Binna Burra Lodge, across the rest of Australia's east coast there are still over 100 fires which continue to threaten lives and property on both sides of the Queensland and New South Wales State border.

"Very remote, really hard conditions for our firefighters, many of those areas and a lot of those assets, we just can not get to". We still have a couple of days to go before we have any respite in the weather.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Inspector Andrew Sturgess yesterday delivered his sobering predictions to a meeting of the Queensland Disaster Management Committee, also attended by Acting Premier Jackie Trad.

"So this is an omen, if you will, a warning of the fire season that we are likely to see in southeastern parts of the state where most of the population is", he said on Sunday.

"We're still very much in defensive mode", Queensland Fire and Emergency Services assistant commissioner Kevin Walsh said on Sunday.

"Very high fire danger rating to severe fire danger rating is what residents in this area need to be most concerned about".

"There is two kilometres spotting of this fire and we have a significant amount of houses that have been breached by fire", Queensland Fire and Emergency Services north coast chief superintendent Michelle Young told ABC.

At least 11 homes had already been destroyed at Binna Burra and the fire was revised to a watch and act level early this morning.

"Unfortunately overnight the Binna Burra Lodge, which has been part of the tourism landscape since 1933, has succumbed to devastation by the fires", she said.

Whereas the historic Binna Burra Lodge was burnt to an ember over the weekend as flames destroyed Lamington nationwide park, the adjoining Springbrook nationwide park - the place the movie star present is filmed - remained protected.

The Scenic Rim regional council mayor, Greg Christensen, said that for some in his community it was still too risky to go home.

"So it's making firefighting in that area very, very hard".

QFES said fire crews are working on containing the fire in that area, and with efforts also focused into the Broadwater State forest.
